Boston Run to Remember Half Marathon - Boston, MA - May 27, 2012 - From John: The half-marathon fielded 5,400 runners and the five mile race many more. With a 7:00 AM start temps were in the middle 60's with a light breeze under cloudless skies. Prior to and for a period during the race, Boston Police helicopter circled over and around the city skyline - like a scene from a Hollywood action film. Starting in the Seaport District, the course continued down town and across the Longfellow Bridge onto Memorial Drive and west to Harvard. At that point we reversed course and once back in town ran around the Common and returned to the finish at the World Trade Center. This is a scenic race with good amenities and relatively flat making for a fast course. While I was pleased to have won my division, I had PR'd according to my "Garmin," but according to the official results I was 26 seconds shy. Can't explain the discrepency, but still a great day and we celebrated at the Atlantic Beer Garden overlooking the Harbor!

Holliston Newcomers Club 10K - Holliston, MA - May 20, 2012 - From Charlene: The race was all uphill for the first 5 miles with a killer hill at 4.5 miles and then downhill after 5 miles. Kathleen Grevers sets a PR for a 10K. Several divisions winners including firsts for Jeff Hattem and Charlene Gaboriault and a second for Linda Zavalick

Soapstone Mountain Trail Race 24km - Stafford Springs, CT - May 20, 2012 - From Anthony: It was a gorgeous day (temps hitting 80) for this 14.5 mile trail race in Connecticut. The course was extremely technical with hills, rocks, and roots covering the entire course. Some unavoidable water crossings resulted in a lot of squishy feet! I was quite pleased to finish in the top 50%.

Bedford Rotary Memorial 12K - Bedford, NH - May 19, 2012 - From John: On May 19th, I ran the USATF Bedford Rotary 12K in Bedford, NH. My time was 1:10:16, third place in the 70-74 age division. For the USATF Grand Prix, I was 4th in the 70-79 age division, which was good for 3 points. It was sunny and warm but the course had a lot of shade. No big hills on the course, just rolling hills. After 3 USATF Grand Prix races, I am the only one listed in the individual standings.

Feet for Food 5K - Dayton, OH - May 12, 2012 - From Mike: Ran a small race out here while on travel in Dayton, Ohio. It was a race run by a church to benefit their food bank. Little humid, but other than that a pretty good race for a good cause. I was the sole person from out of state!

4th Annual Hopedale Blue Raider 5K - Hopedale, MA - May 12, 2012 - Seventeen TVFRers running in the first TVFR Grand Prix race for May. Several division winners with firsts for John Dumont, Brian Phillips and John Parker. Second place divsion winners were Courtland Francis, Glenn Miller and Henry Lane. Thirds by Tara Neal, Brian Bell and Richard Van Wie.

10th Annual Westboro Spring Fest 5K - Westboro, MA - May 6, 2012 - First two miles are tough uphills and last mile a nice long downhill. Eric Latimer and Charlene Gaboriault take first in their divisions. Charlene also sets a course record for the F60-69 age group.
