Woodland Trail Series, Uxbridge, MA - June 27, 2013
The forecast included a threat of heavy showers, but nothing more than a hint of drizzle materialized for the race. Humidity was very high, but temperatures in the high 60s were a welcome relief from the recent heat. Best of all, the transistion to the new course went very smoothly.

Senior Games Triathlon, Springfield, MA - June 16, 2013
From Joe: Thanks to club member Ray Lussier I have been involved in the Greenway Challenge for several years as a team captain and competitor, it has been a great time every year. So when he recently mentioned the Senior Games I decided to look into it and found out they had a triathlon. I contacted my friend and training partner Dennis Coakley and we registered. The race was held on the campus of Springfield College and consisted of a 400 meter pool swim, a 10 mile bike and a 3 mile run. It was unfortunately a really small field with only seven competitors. We made the best of it on a cool clear morning and gave it our all. It was a well run event, all the student volunteers were fun and did a great job on the course. We had not done a triathlon in over two years so it was a good format to get back into it. We were pleased to be the first two to the finish line.

Mt Washington Road Race - June 15, 2013
From Brendan: I ran my 1st Mount Washington Road Race on Saturday June 15, 2013. I finished in 1:36:20 ( 212th out of 1,300 runners). As soon as we got above tree line there were 50 mph wind gusts and the summit was 35 degrees. Great views from the summit!

Boston Ruckus, Marshfield, MA - June 15, 2013
From Sarah: Peter Rackley and I participated in the Boston Ruckus yesterday in Marshfield. It was four miles and 20+ obstacles. The four miles included trail running too. We both finished in 55:51 - I definitely slowed Peter down! Here we are with our other two friends who did the race with us. We don't look muddy in this pic but we were covered in it!!!

TARC 100, Weston, MA - June 14-15, 2013
From John: This weekend I ran in the inaugural "TARC 100" trail race. The TARC 100 was held in Weston, MA and hosted by the Trail Animals Running Club. The event consisted of a 50 mile and 100 mile options. I ran the 100. The race was 99.9% trails and started Friday evening at 7PM with a 30 hour time limit. The course was a 25 mile "loop", loop in the sense that you started and finished at the same location, that the 50 milers did twice and the 100 milers did 4 times. The course also had a dozen or more water crossings, which were more like river crossings after last weeks rain. The water crossings, along with mud 6 to 10 inches deep, and your typical roots and rocks made for a very interesting time. Of the 350+ participants registered for both races (191 in the 100) only 134 finished (68 in the 100).

From Mike: Chip time should have been lower, but it is what it is. The course was definitely fast and the light rain kept it comfortable. Good after race goodies as well. Other than the drive at rush hour, race was really enjoyable.
