Cape Cod Marathon - Falmouth, MA - October 28, 2012 - From Coleen: Beautiful course but quite hilly especially the last 10 miles. The views along the ocean were spectacular but Incredibly windy with Sandy heading our way. I was proud to finish while trying to battle a cold that will not quit.

Ghost Train Rail Trail Ultra 30 Mile - Brookline, NH - October 27, 2012 - From Mike: I was 2nd overall in 3:48:38 in the 30M. I caught near my trail Marathon split, 26.23 it already said when I looked and about 3:15:17. It was tough going late at times but I finished my first Ultra up okay, at least it seems like so far.o

Mystic Runners Lake Q 5K - Wakefield, MA - October 24, 2012 - From Rich: A few people from work decided to jump into the Mystic Runners weekly 5K in Wakefield. Starts at 6:45 so it was a bit dark. I was worried about getting lost but was able to keep someone in sight the whole way. Nice low-key race, the price is right ($2), and there is a bar right there at the start/finish.

Baystate Half Marathon - Lowell, MA - October 21, 2012 - From Hiroshi: It was an ideal weather/temperature to run a half marathon distance and I ran 2:01:40. Enjoyed the rest of day fishing in Cape Cod. Tired more from driving over 240 miles today.

Michael's Run 5K - Hopkinton, MA - October 20, 2012 - Second October TVFR Grand Prix race and several TVFRers take age group awards. Cortland Francis is third overall and first in his division. Other age group winners are Glenn Miller 1st, Kristen Atchue 1st and Linda Zavalick 1st. Second place age group winners include Jason Stock, Bill Lyon and Nancy Robertson. Third place winners are Luke Legendre and Marie Paturzo.

CNE Fall Frenzy 5K - Milford, MA - October 13, 2012 - From John Dumont: I was looking for a local 5k and found this one on Coolrunning.com. This is a race/walk as part of ongoing fundraising for a Christian organization called Compassion New England. This event attracted almost entirely members of their organization. This was a cool breezy morning. The race was an 'out and back' course along the Upper Charles Trail in Milford. It started at Fino Field and proceeded north along the trail beyond Louisa Lake to a staffed water stop/turn-around point that was supposed to comprise a 5K distance. It was actually 3.67 miles clocked with a stop watch by a volunteer at the finish. As the race began, the young athletes put it in high gear for the first half-mile, after which I passed that group and caught up with, and exchanged the lead, with the eventual winner. He beat me out by about five seconds without breaking a sweat. He was fourteen years old I believe. Anyway, nice flat course with refreshments after the race.

Tufts Health Plan 10K for Women - Boston, MA - October 8, 2012 - Tracy Curving runs the 10K the day after running the BAA Half Marathon. Mary Tyler runs in her 36th straight Tufts 10K, one of only 18 women to do so!

12th Annual B.A.A. Half Marathon - Boston, MA - October 7, 2012 - From Julia: Beautiful day for a race! This was the final race in the inaugural BAA Distance Medley.

Fall Foliage Foot Race - Waterville Valley, NH - October 7, 2012 - From Glenn: 49 Degrees and partly cloudy. Perfect day for a race. Ran the first 1/2 mile with the second place finisher. He was pushing a stroller, awesome!

Upton VFW Run to Remember 5K - Upton, MA - October 6, 2012 - First race in the 2012-2013 TVFR Grand Prix Series. 8 TVFRers either received 1st or 2nd in their divisions with Jason Stock, John Dumont, Jackie Kelley and Linda Usher all garnering first place division wins. Peter Berdos, Rich Victor, Jessica Allen and Jennifer Lade received second place wins.
