From Sarah: This was the first year the race was held and the money benefited the Patrick Dempsey Foundation for cancer research. Sadly, Patrick was not present but they had a flat Patrick to represent! The race was billed as fast and flat and it was all rolling hills. I'm now realizing flat for Maine is the same as saying there's only rolling hills instead of gigantic mountains to run up. There was pizza, donuts and Eli's soda; all from local Maine companies! I won a medal and a gift certificate for a kayak rental!

Lynn Woods 10 Mile Relay, Lynn - August 26, 2015
From Sarah: Scott Young, Mike Nixon, Melissa Kelly and I ran in the Lynn Woods 10 Mile relay as team TVFR Blood, Sweat and Tears (Mike swears he wrote BEERS on the app!). We did a 1:28:29. Scott very kindly filled in for Danny who had a conflict. A very fun, low key relay with a 2.5 mile out and back course. The most difficult part of the trail is the goat path. The relay is inexpensive, $50 for a team of 4 and if you register early enough, you get a nice cotton tshirt. It's pretty far to go on a week night but if you can swing it, it's a great time!.

Jamie Fund 5K, Mansfield - August 22, 2015
Alexis is the first woman!
From John: The race is well organized and the course is one big loop and very flat. The race is named after Jamie who has autism but does a great job of singing the national anthem before the start of the race.

Anchor Down Ultra, Bristol, RI - August 14-15, 2015
From John: Sherry and I participated in the Anchor Down Ultra in Colt State Park in Bristol, RI this past weekend. High heat and humidity made for challenging conditions but was a most enjoyable event just the same; very organized and well run with plenty of food and drinks for the duration. The race offered options of 6 hour, 12 hour, 24 hour and 100 mile (if under 24 hours) ultramarathons. All races started at 7PM on Friday evening. The course consisted of a 2.05 mile loop with the first half mile on a trail and the remainder on paved paths through Colt State Park. There was a water station around mile 1 and a full aid station at the Start/Finish area. I also encountered a runner wearing a Larry Olsen shirt. She said she was a fairly new Tri-Valley runner from Milford. We chatted briefly and hopefully I remembered her name correctly.

Dole 3-Miler, Fryeburg, ME - August 8, 2015
From Sarah: The race was held on the mountain division bike/run trail which starts behind the Maine visitors center. It's always nice to find a local race when I'm up here and this one was nicely organized. In keeping with the trail theme, all participants received a wooden medal, similar to our Woodland Trail series ones and were entered into a raffle (I won a gift card to a loca restaurant)! If you're a fan of running history, the race is named in honor of George Dole who participated in the four minute mile race with Roger Bannister back in 1954.

Campton Community Spirit 3.4M, Campton, NH - August 1, 2015
From Glenn: 60 degrees but humid. 3.5 mile race in my future hometown. Alex was off my right shoulder for the first half of the race. But couldn't keep pace into the hilly section of the course. Jeff and I got the 1 2 for the second year.
