Hyannis Marathon and Half Marathon - Hyannis, MA - February 26,
2012 - From Russ Fradkin: the Hyanis half .....that was the longest i've run, believe it or not. for the past 10-15 years!! ...in training for this, I did get to 10 miles a few times and kept on getting minorly injured but decided to run it anyway ( I ran it with my daughter so I had to keep up with her....right??).......it was so much fun, despite the 30 mph breezes ( they actually felt good!!) ....towards the end I was wishing this damn race would be over already as I was hurtin', but I did feel pretty good and strong at the end...I gave an all out sprint at the end and pulled away from my daughter but Jessi caught me and we crossed the finish line together .....it was great.....Jessi ran a normal steady pace all the way like a normal person....me, by about mile 8 had this bad crampy pain in my thigh which felt better only if i ran fast or stopped, so I would run with my daughter, then sprint way ahead until I got too tired and then walk until she caught up and then sprint on ahead, so basically I was doing Fartleks for the last five miles of the race....near the end I was thinking: 'whose freakin' stupid idea was it to do this anyway?', but after it was over I was thinking:' hmmm, the New Bedford half is in a month, I wonder if I will be ready for that?'.

Old-Fashioned
10 Miler and Flat 5K - Foxboro, MA - February 19,
2012 - 33 TVFRers with 10 in the 5K and 23 in the 10 miler. Many improved times over last year with Tom McMullin and Dan Davin 2 minute faster than last year and Lynn Scornavacca and Anthony Tieuli faster by 5 minutes. Jess Morrissey with a 9:18 pace in her first 10 miler!
Eight ages group winners for Tri-Valley in the two races:
In the 5K winners include Luke Legendre with a 2nd, Kristen Atchue with a 3rd, Charlene Gaboriault with a 1st, John Parker with a 1st and Ted Tyler with a 3rd.
In the 10 miler winners include Glenn Miller with a 2nd, Tom McMullin with a 2nd and Ken Becker with a 3rd.
These
races were dual TVFR Grand Prix races for February.
