St Pat's 5K - Providence, RI - March 10, 2012  -  Like the Irish 5K last week, the St Pat's 5K is part of the city's St Patrick's celebration preceding the parade. It was a bit chilly especially considering the warm weather we had last week - temps were in the upper 30s with a brisk wind. 16 TVFRers ran in this first March Grand Prix race with Glenn Miller taking third in his division and Charlene Gaboriault taking a second in her division.

Black Cat 20 - Salem, MA - March 4, 2012  -  From Don Basso: The Black Cat was a 20 mile race that consisted of 4 laps across the town of Salem and back. The course was pretty flat, with one hill. All of the amenities were plentiful - water, gatorade, gels - yes - even gels. And the young ladies pointing the way for the runners - as Mel Brooks would say - wow! My run was very good. This was the first time since my bout with IT band two years ago that I ran a negative race, and exceeded my goal. What a nice stepping stone on the way to Boston!

Irish 5K - Pawtucket, RI - March 3, 2012  -  From John Dumont: The Irish 5K is part of the city's St Patrick's celebration. While the weather limited the field and overall celebration, this is an enjoyable race and celebration that follows. The armory serves host with celtic music by the Tom Lanigan Band. Continuing with the Irish theme, corned beef sandwiches are for sale along with Guinness, Smithwicks, and of course "Gansett." One point on the results. The finish times were accurate, but the pace times were all inaccurate. I noticed this on my results and check others and found they too were inaccurate. Still, a small thing for an enjoyable race. Two races remain in the "Tour de Patrick" next Saturday and Sunday in Providence and Worcester.
