Earth Rock Half Marathon, North Andover, April 27, 2014
From John: TVFR Scott Keefe and myself ran this rainy cold inaugural race on Sunday morning. From the start, mile one was a climb as was mile four. However, those hills paled in comparison to the hill at mile nine. And, that hill at mile nine was merely a prelude to the nasty climb of mile twelve. It was here that IT band pain caused me to hobble all the way down to the final quarter mile where I could finally get back on stride. Whining aside, there is also a full marathon at this event starting an hour earlier. We pitied the marathoners who had to run mile 12 a second time! But good food, good music, and beer made the race worth the effort. PS though a "Boston Qualifier," not recommended due to its hilly nature.

James Joyce Ramble, Dedham, April 27, 2014
Congratulations to Linda Zavalick, Charlene Gaboriault and Mary Tyler for taking first place in the USATF Masters 10K Championship in the 60-65 age group!
From Mary: Linda Zavalick (1:03:15), Charlene Gaboriault (1:10:42), Ted Tyler (1:10:42) and Mary Tyler (1:15:40) ran the USATF National Masters 10K Championship held at the James Joyce Ramble 4/27/14. It was mid-40's and damp, not great spring weather, but good for running. No individual awards, but we three TriValley women took first place as an over 60 USATF women's team, and won prize money for the club! Charlene's sister Michelle took pictures of the race which will be posted in a couple of days on Jim Rhoades' website.
From Sarah: Great race! I would do this one again. I did a 49:34. Great after party!!!

26.2 Challenge, Plymouth, April 26, 2014
From Sarah: I ran one leg of the 26.2 relay challenge with my friends in Plymouth. The course supposedly was 4.34 miles but my watch said 4. My time was 30:26. Online it says I did a 6:59 but there's no way I did that.
