with a total time of 14:02:41.
From
Donald Basso, 217th place, 7:33
pace, and an overall time of 3:18:19, which was just 7
seconds off a PR.
The BayState Marathon was very well attended by TVFR,
and a well-run event. The temperature was perfect for
me, and the only real excuse that I have for not
setting a PR (as I thought that I did after the race)
was that the wind seemed to shift, denying us a
tailwind over the final miles. Instead we ran into
about a 15 mph wind, or so it seemed.
Congratulations to Harry Jarvis, who PR'd as he
torched me! Now that I have my feet up, I'm
thinking about six marathons next year!
From
Sherry: Although
this was not a PR for, I am pleased with my effort. I
earned that Iron Runner jacket! In my
opinion the course was decent, well marked, well
manned, plenty of water and support, even for us
back-of-the-packers. The temperature was perfect but
that head wind in the final 10 miles was brutal at
times. I was on my way to a PR until I
encountered the increasing winds in the last miles.
Oh well, not every race can be a PR race but there
is always something to learn along the way.
One final comment, the TVFR turnout was awesome!
From
Charlene Gaboriault - I finished! That's all I
can say. But I earned that
jacket. I swear there was a 5 mile gradual uphill
on that last stretch plus a cold headwind.
The water stop crews were fantastic - local schools
competing for prizes and I give my vote to Tewksbury
HS (they were all dressed up in Halloween costumes).
Larry Olsen was out there at one of the water stops to
encourage us. All in all a great race!!
