Eastern States 20 Miler / Kittery, ME to Salisbury MA / Sunday, March 30  From Harry Jarvis -
Light winds, cool temps, and plenty of sun made this a nice day for a race that spans three states.  TVFR was well represented as 575 runners wound their way along the coast from Kittery, ME to Salisbury, MA.  The scenery is top notch and the food included pizza, three kinds of soup and the usual assortment of fruit and grannola bars. If you are of the mind to run 20 miles, this is a race you shouldn't miss.  LINK

Rabbit Ramble / 5K / Wrentham / MA / Saturday, March 22  This race was held at the location of the Cracker Barrel Fair  Grounds which is wide open fields surrounding the old Wrentham State School.  I should have turned back when I saw a guy launching a twenty foot kite sail with the wind.  On a normal day this would be a very fast course but we ran into a very strong headwind to start which turned into a side wind from the left for about a mile and quarter.  Finally a tail wind that didn't last long and a very strong headwind for the last half mile.    LINK

New Bedford Half Marathon / New Bedford / MA / Sunday, March 16 Early results are in and it was a huge field of TVFR's in the race with excellent runs by all of our participants.  I am waiting to hear from some of these runners but I do know that Mike Sawyer set a PR in this race.  Kathryn Fetteroll with a PR in her first Half Marathon and second in her division.  TVFR men's did well with a fourteenth place finish in the open field, eighth in the masters and eleventh in the Senior Field.  This in the first time in may years that we have had a women's team and they also did well with a twenty-first place finish in the open field and sixteenth in the masters field LINK
From - Harry Jarvis - Hoo-Rah!  The 2008 USATF Grand Prix got off to a good start with TVFR fielding an impressive 19 runners! This includes six women (seven if you count Jay's identical twin sister Jan) which gave us an open and a masters women's team.  Way to go ladies!  Many of the TVFRs turned in record setting performances, including Kathryn Fetteroll and Jen Lade both running their first half-marathon, Mike Sawyer, Don Basso who shattered a decades old lifetime PR, John Dumont more than 2 minutes faster than '07, and yours truly who shaved 3:45 from last year's time.  If I missed anyone let us know!  Good job TVFR!  I hope to see you all and more on 5/11 for the 6K in Nashua.

From Mike Sawyer - There was some reasonable wind off that water again for sure. The 13mph forecast at race time was probably about right. Of course that's much better than last year by comparison! And this year was warmer too by probably just enough to feel okay...37 or  38 degrees.  I know I ran a notable PR for 10 along the way if that would have counted given the course contours and still felt quite strong. Mile 6 is a very fast mile...went from a 29:22 at mile 5 marker to a 35:00 at the six and was starting to feel pretty good, so I figured it was a strong chance by then. I guess it's amazing what a good taper off a good base can sometimes work for magic.

From Gary Atlas - Great turn-out from TVFR for this race. It was clear & cool day (~34 degrees) with the ‘normal’ head winds after mile 9.  I only managed to see less than ½ of the TVFR team.  Congratulations to Mike & Kathryn for their outstanding performances.   Also, congrats to Captain Jarvis for fielding a great USATF Team.

2nd Annual Chipmunk 5K for ALS / Upton / MA / Saturday, March 8 John Brown led the way followed by Larry Olsen, John Dumont, ne club member Sara Minsk, John Parker and Sherry Brown in this the second annual Chipmunk for ALS.  The race had been rescheduled from last weekends snow storm but still managed just under 100 runners.
From Cyndy Rogers - I think the rescheduling, due to heavy snow, and then the calls for a flood watch and torrential rains promoted  a minimal turnout, but we had fun anyway, and it did not even rain during the actual race!
