Annual Chipmunk 5K for ALS - Upton, MA - February 28, 2009
- Brisk
winds but sunny with temperatures in the 30s. Flat
course with no hills! Several Tri-Valley runners
in this race but with only three ages groups, all us of were lumped into the 40+ group.

Marathon, Half Marathon and 10K - February 22, 2009
- The
rains held off for the 10K and the half marathon, maybe
not for all of the marathon but at least it was warm -
42 degrees. Don Basso and Harry Jarvis take 1st
and 2nd in the 50-59 division of the marathon.
Charlene (gimpy) Gaboriault recovered enough from a bad
ankle sprain last week to place 2nd in the 60-69 age
group of the 10K.

Fashioned Ten Miler - Foxboro, MA- February 15, 2009
- A
Good showing for Tri-Valley with John Brown placing 1st
in his division and Meredith Dutton placing
3rd.

- it was smiles all around for TVFR runners who were in
Foxboro today. Maybe it was clear weather? Maybe
it was just another sign that winter could be breaking?
I had a good day in comparison to last year's 10 miler
and beat my 2008 time by more than 10 minutes.
Can't exactly say why (it was so long ago!). It
could possibly the 'pep talk' that Ted Tyler gave me
prior to the race. That had to be it!!!

Foxboro Ten Miler couldn't have had better weather.
The sun was shining brightly with not a cloud in the
sky. The roads were clear and dry and the wind
seemed to die down during the race. The course is
described as fast first two miles followed by six miles
of rolling hills and then the last two miles as flat and
fast. That may be true but after navigating the
"rolling hills" I didn't have much gas left in
the tank for the flat and fast last two. I did use
it as a training run as ten miles was close to my
maximum distance since late last fall. And ten
miles on this course and at my average pace took a toll.
It was good to see all the TVFR's at the race and enjoy
an after race meal with them. Mary, Ted, John,
Charlie, Gary, Jerry, Frank. I somehow missed
Russell Fradkin and new club members Roger and Sherri
Goodell, but the season is just starting. Thanks
Meredith for allowing me to tag along and slowing you
down.
