Bellingham Challenge 5K / Bellingham / Saturday, April 27 -  A filed of close to 180 on a cold damp morning.  Mike Sawyer took first overall and first in his division.  Martin Auty sixteenth overall and second in his division.  Mark Stephens twenty-first and Jerry Sawyer with a great run as he improves each and every day.   LINK
From Martin -
The weather did a turn around from earlier in the week with a temperature below 50 and a light rain that was intermittent during the race.  The course is difficult to say the least.  First mile is fast and downhill.  Second mile is slow and quite a climb uphill.  The last mile is a slight downhill with two small hills as you turn into the High School with the last quarter mile straight flat and wide open.

XTERRA Merrimack River Trail Race  / Andover / Saturday, April 12 183 Hardy runners with our three with excellent showings and each one coming away with a piece of hardware.  LINK
From John Parker - TVFR was represented by 3 runners at the Merrimack River Trail Race, Saturday, April 12th, in Andover, MA, at 9:00 a.m.  Weather predictions were for showers/drizzle and cool.  It was cloudy and cool at the start but cleared up not too long afterward and the weather was beautiful.  The race is 10 miles, 5 miles out and 5 miles back, along the river. The course was muddy with enough water to get your feet wet. the first and last 3 miles are relatively flat but the middle 4 are hilly with some very steep and short hills.  Last year I tripped 4 times on rocks and or roots but this year I managed to avoid tripping.  One of the acronyms for the race is PYFUS (pick your feet up stupid).  Lynn Jennings ran this race one year but has not returned.  Maybe that is because, on the way back, she collided head on with a runner on the way out.

Tri-Valley FrontRunners Boston Tune-Up 15K / Upton, MA / Saturday, April 5  The cold damp drizzle kept the field under 200 but another memorable road race held by Frank Nealon and his horde of TVFR volunteers.  Frank Nealon was first across the finish line but that was in the Upton Police cruiser.  Our runners all had good times and managed to take home some of the hardware as well.  Mike Sawyer sixth overall and second in his division.  John Brown ninth and second in his division.  Meredith Dutton twenty-first and first in her division.  Linda User third in her division and Linda Zavalick first in her division.  John Dumont and Don Basso continue to round into shape along with Frank Ferrante and Debbie Gaulitz.  I am sure we will have some runner reports coming in from some of the runners.

Larry Olsen with Meredith Dutton.  Meredith was the third female finisher and first in her division
