Whitin 5 / 5 Miles  / Whitinsville / MA / Thursday, November 22
Looks like a great turnout of TVFR's.  John Brown was first in followed by Larry Olsen and Kelley Terrill.  First Lady was Elizabeth Morin followed by Sue Spencer and Dian Brannigan.  Looks like everyone had a good race before the Turkey day festivities took place.
From Harry Jarvis - There we were: 500+ runners acting very Van Morrison-esque, laughing and running in the misty morning fog with our hearts a thumpin', including brown eyed girls of every age.  This is a great race, made all the more fun by the fact that you can hang out with your friends and get some exercise on a day when you might not do so otherwise. The weather was good for a race; cool at the start with the sun starting to peek out as the awards were being wrapped up. As always, the race was well organized and for the first time run on a certified course. TVFR was well represented. If you haven't run this race before you should give it a try next year. If nothing else you can feel just a little better about that second helping of stuffing!

Framingham Police and Fire Turkey Trot / 5 K  / Framingham / MA / Thursday, November 22
From John Dumont - About 1000 runners for this 8 AM start. Cool misty conditions for this race that was shortened from 3.5 miles to a 5K due to bridge construction. The first mile of this race is slow due to the number of runners, however the pace quickens since the course is mainly flat save for one good hill climb and descent after mile 2. Good food, raffle, and awards at the municipal center following the race. The early start leaves plenty of time to get home and enjoy the holiday.

Legend of the Fall Cross Country Trail Race / 4 Miles / Iowa City / IA / Thursday, November 22
From David Bryan - Who says Iowa is flat! The "Legend of the Fall" Trail Race took place on Thanksgiving morning in Iowa City, IA on a challenging snow covered cross country course filled with hills, logs, overhanging tree branches, creeks, and tree roots. It was incredibly fun! The race had all the prerequisites of a good race, good and plentiful food, an awesome long sleeve t-shirt and homemade pumpkin pies to all of the age group winners. I had to buy my own pumpkin pie but I did finish third in my age group which I was thrilled with. At the start of the race a group that rehabilitates wild birds released back into the wild a Great Horned Owl. What an awesome site to see this owl fly off to start a new life. Then we were off to start our fun filled Thanksgiving morning race.

Harrisburg Marathon / Harrisburg / PA / Sunday, November 11
Congratulations  Meredith -  What more can we say.  Fortieth overall third female and first in your division.  I am sure Meredith will have a few words for us on the overall experience but I will share a few of her words regarding the last five miles.  Great job!!
From Meredith - "I highly recommend the Harrisburg Marathon to anyone looking for a small-field race on a certified course. Details would take forever to write, as there didn't seem to be a single thing they didn't get right here."

City of Oaks Half Marathon / Raleigh / NC / Sunday, November 4
Great job by Caryn and Ryan -  over 2300 in the Half Marathon with Caryn finishing thirteenth in her division and Ryan nineteenth in his division.  Pictures are on the Race Results page.
From the Kirks'  - "Caryn and Ryan toed the line for this rebirth of a Raleigh marathon/half marathon. The new race directors did a fantastic job and attracted over 3100 runners combined. The course for the half was varied and included a number of rolling hills. Beginning at the state fairgrounds and travelling through downtown Raleigh. The half marathoners ran with the marathoners for 11.5 miles before splitting off and heading home, uphill for the last 1/4 mile. The day was perfect for running, with temps in the low forties and sunny. Great food and drinks after the race.
Caryn and Ryan ran great, once again without proper training. Caryn has been fighting shin splints (so what else is new?) and did all but a couple of days of training in the gym with arc trainers and elipticals. Ryan has been quite busy with his heavy course load, searching for colleges and working and was only able to log fewer than 20 miles of running in the last month. I wish I knew how they are able to run so well with so little training...Imagine what they could do if they tried!!!"
