5M Trail Race - Uxbridge, MA - July 29, 2010 - With the weather finally shifting in our favor into the low 80s, our second Trail Run of the summer was off with a field of 54 runners.
The awards ceremony was accompanied with the munching of watermelon, soda and Don Basso’s goodies.

typical hot and muggy July morning. New member
Emily Ricketson was first woman, 8th overall in the race and
1st in her age group. Mike Walsh was 3rd overall

2nd in his division. Peter and Richard Berdos take 2nd
and 3rd respectively in their age group. Joe Drugan is
first Veteran and Elizabeth Morin first Senior.

Marathon Sports 5 Miler - July 22, 2010 - From
Charlene: Still feeling the after effects of the
Stowe 8
miler on Sunday so took it easy (legs would not let me go any
faster anyways). Still I was surprised to get a first
place in my division. Race starts on grass, hills in
between and finishes last 3/4 mile on grass then track.
The weather cooperated and it wasn't as hot as it usually
is. Plenty of food afterwards - pizza, fruit, ice cream
- all the foods you run for!

Ranger 24 Hour Ultra Marathon - Philadelphia, PA - July 17-18, 2010 -
From
John Brown: I
ran the 20in24 Lone Ranger 24 Hour Ultra Marathon this past
weekend (July 17th and 18th). I completed 101.47 miles in
22:37:21 (13th overall), which includes almost 3 hours of
downtime (recovering from heat). Sunny during the day and
extremely muggy overnight. Temps were in the high 90's during
the day and 80's overnight. Heat index over 100 for most of
the race. There were about 250 or so registered for the full
24 hours and almost 100 relay teams.ne

Annual Stowe 8 Miler - Stowe, VT - July 18, 2010 - One
of the USATF Grand Prix races. It was hot but not
brutally hot like it usually is for this race and plenty of
shade except for the last mile which was all uphill.
Charlene takes third in her division with her best time ever
in her 6th Stowe. Mary runs a 1.5 mile warm up
after taking a wrong turn running from the hotel. Doug
was smart and stayed at a hotel at the start.

flat 5K in Needham. The race is run as part of the
parades so ready made crowds to cheer on the runners.

significant hill in the first mile. Then mostly downhill
to the finish. They track how you finish but you need to

Harvard Pilgrim
Health Care 10K at Patriot's Place - Foxboro, MA - July 4,
2010 -
Cloud covered for most of the race but hot and humid with
temps in the mid-80s. A fairly flat course with
minor inclines and completely closed to traffic for the entire
6.2 miles. 3500 runners for this innagural race that
finished on the 50 yard line inside Gillette Stadium.
Several TVFRers took home awards (golf shirt, tech shirt or
cap) - Erin Stephens was 3rd, Joe Drugan - 1st, Linda Zavalick
- 2nd and Charlene Gaboriault - 3rd.
