A cool and breezy morning for this race. Relatively flat
fast course and plenty of volunteers directing
runners. A good effort was made at the start
to separate competitive runners from recreational runners and
the young kids. This would be a good 5K PR course.

Stock is 13th overall in the half marathon. From Mike
Sawyer: Congrats again on an excellent breakthrough
at the Baystate Half. So now an impressive display of speed in
the 5k combined with the strength of a sub 6 half marathon,
quite notable! On the way up yes!

Shillelagh Suffle 3-Miler - West Newton, MA - October 17, 2010
- This is
the last race in the New England Runner's Pub Series.
The weather was much nicer than last year's cold pouring
rain. Temperatures were perfect today - 60's, sunny with
a slight breeze. Charlene finishes the series in third
place in the F60-69 category. Both Charlene and Mary
earn a Pub Series jacket having completed all seven races.

Tufts
Health Plan 10K for Women - Boston, MA - October 11, 2010
- Mary
runs in her 34th straight Tufts 10K - one of only 13 or so to
do so.
From Mary Tyler: Very slow time for me this year - still
getting over a bad chest cold and I don't think the narrowing
of the Longfellow Bridge to one lane helped either (everybody
except those way in the front had to slow to a walk). Can't believe Joan Benoit
Samuelson. She ran Chicago
in 2:47:50 something in 80-degree heat- less than 2 minutes
faster and she would have qualified for the Olympic trials
again! Then she hopped on a plane, once she got to Boston told
the cab driver to go as fast as he could and still be safe in
order to make it to the Tufts dinner Sunday night. (She
did assure us she had taken time to take a shower after the
race). So, the next day she ran the Tufts 10K, then
stood at the finish line to congratulate every runner who
finished after she did. Amazing!

Marathon - Hartford, CT - October 9, 2010 - From
John Brown: There
were 2187 finishers in the marathon. Good day for the marathon
with temps in the 50's but there was a head wind that seemed
to be in your face the entire race. The course was is promoted
as mostly flat with most of the hills in the first few miles.
I would call it New England flat with rolling hills throughout
and a fairly long hill from mile 25 to 26. The post race
spread was a little disappointing and computer based,
immediate results look-up tent was a disaster.

House Women's Classic 5K - Providence, RI - October 3,
2010 - Last
race in the NE-USATF Grand Prix Series. This was a
women's only race with over 450 women runners. A
very flat course with temperatures in the mid 60s and little
sun. Prizes went 5 deep so ZLinda Usher took 2nd
in the Veterans division and Charlene Gaboriault was able to
snatch a free pair of Reebok running shoes as she takes 5th in
her division. TVFR was able to field a women's team but
due to a mix-up with Mary's number we were unable to determine
how we placed in the team divisions.
